Church of Saint-Ennemond

Rue de Lavieu, 42400 Saint-Chamond
Pillaged, burned down and rebuilt several times, it remains the oldest church in the town. Its origins date back to the 8th century.
The church gets its name from Saint Ennemond, the bishop of Lyon, a charitable, modest and gentle character; he is known for making children walk.
His statue stands in the alcove in the entrance porch; he is the patron saint of the church and the hill.
The church keeps beautiful wall paintings.
