The "Raconte-moi St Romain" History and Heritage Association invites you to climb the Pic, starting from the Maubec ascent as it was in medieval times. QR codes and virtual reality headsets will be available for this experience. Meet at 1 Montée de Maubec or call 06 09 92 71 28.

Unique and enigmatic, the priory crowns the summit of a basalt cone where, in the warmer months, Mediterranean flora—including fig trees, anise, and almond trees—thrives. Overlooking the plain, it proudly displays the traces of its former splendor.

Built between the 10th and 13th centuries, the church of the priory of St-Romain-le-Puy is a masterpiece of Romanesque art. Its crypt, capitals, and sculpted decorations reveal the refinement of this architecture, in which aesthetics and symbolism blend with subtlety. The priory church exemplifies Carolingian and Romanesque art. A 10th-century nave and an 11th-century choir, fresco panels from the 10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th centuries, a crypt, an extremely varied array of Mediterranean-inspired carved capitals, and an apse featuring a reticulated fresco protecting a series of carved panels. Panoramic view of the Forez Plain, the Monts du Lyonnais, and the Monts du Forez. Each year, the association organizes its cultural season, Heritage Days, and exhibitions from April through September, with new displays every month. You can also explore the medieval priory in virtual reality using the headsets and QR codes installed along the entire route from Maubec to the Pic.
